Training for Adult Ski Racers in Michigan
Boyne Mountain
Boyne provides 2-hr sessions of running gates on Super Bowl (when available) or alternative racing terrain (Meadows or McLouth), from 10-12. Course setting and coaching by Dave Samalik, Trevor Clough, Patrick McInally, Fred Hunt, Chad Buehler. Cost for 2007/2008 is $28/day, $225 for a 10-punch ticket, or $370 for a season pass. Training covers all non-MACC race weekends, plus the Friday evenings preceding MACC weekends at Boyne (3 Fridays, 5-8 pm on Aurora), plus 6 days over the Christmas holiday.UPDATE: Dec 22-23: Race training 10-12 with Dave, no gates. FREE SKIING DRILLS. it is still early in the season and everybody could use a ski lesson- balance, stance and so on. Sign up at the Snow Sports Academy Desk.
With the nice snow conditions, it looks like all pre-season morning training will be on SuperBowl.

Christmas: Dec 26-31 (6 days): 26 SL, 27 GS, 28 SL, 29 GS, 30 SL, 31

UPDATE: The courses were usually set by 9:30, allowing early slip and early start. Best to arrive early. There was more coaching than in past years, with 2 or three coaches usually watching the runs from the bottom of the course and giving instant feedback.
Race weekends (weekends 1, 2, 4), Jan 11 GS, Jan 25 SL, Feb 22
SL. Fri nights 5-8 pm. (3 nights)
Non-race weekends, SL on Saturday, GS on Sunday, with exceptions
to match other races (such as Kircher Cup).
Jan 5,6, 19,20, Feb 2,3, 16,17, Mar 1,2 (10 days)
Days: 10-12 noon, Super Bowl when possible.

Pine Knob
Tuesdays (mid-day): January 29, February 5,12,19, 12:00-2:00
$25 per session or $80 for all paid in advance.
If weather does not cooperate dates will be pushed ahead to get 4
sessions in.
Lift tickets are 2 people for $28. Bring a friend or we can meet
at ticket window at 11:45 to pair up.

Mt. Brighton with Team Shumaker

Alpine Valley
Sunday: 9:30am-11:30am. Slalom and Giant Slalom on the north side of Everest. Geared toward the adult racer.
3:00pm-5:00pm. Same as the morning sessions, but geared toward the young racer.
MONDAY: 7:00pm-9:00pm. Slalom and Giant Slalom on the Nastar Hill, geared toward the young racer.
WEDNESDAY: 7:00pm-9:00pm. Courses will be set on the north side of Everest. Featuring Slaom and Giant Slalom geared toward the young racer.
SATURDAY: 9:30am-11:30am. Courses will be set. Slalom and Giant Slalom on the north side of Everest, geared toward the young racer.
All clinics are open to all ages. Cost is $20.00 for each clinic. Or you can pre-purchase 10 clinic sessions for $150.00. A discounted lift ticket is available for the clinics: Saturday or Sunday $25; Monday or Wednesday $21. These can be purchased at the Instruction Center.
