RACES ARE ON (Sunday Only)!!!
Even though the weather odds have not been in our favor recently, Boyne is hopeful we will be able to race on Sunday. It's is going to look a little different, so make sure you read the whole newsletter.
Schedule change for February 2-4
Due to the recent warm temperatures, there has been a significant loss of snow at Boyne Mountain. At this time, there is not enough snow on Superbowl or FIS for skiing, and there is not enough snow to set gates on North Boyne. With these conditions we are forced to cancel racing for Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3.
Boyne has committed to making snow on North Boyne as soon as temperatures drop on Thursday and continuing to make snow when temperatures allow through Saturday. This should allow us to hold Race 6 (Slalom) and 7 (Giant Slalom) on Sunday, February 4 on North Boyne.
Slalom and Giant Slalom courses will be set side by side on North Boyne using the same start and finish line. Course 1 will be in the morning at 10am, starting with Slalom and followed by Giant Slalom. Two runs will be completed for each race, as long as the course holds up. There will be a 15-minute break between Slalom and Giant Slalom, to allow for minor course adjustments and timing switches. Course 2 will be at 12:30pm or 1 hour after the conclusion of Course 1, whichever occurs later (Course 2 will not start before 12:30pm), and will follow the same format as Course 1.
A detailed timeline is below.
Course Inspection
Inspection for both the Slalom and Giant Slalom course will be open at least 30 minutes before race time. The Giant Slalom course may be inspected while racers are still running the Slalom race. Time will be limited after the Slalom race for inspection of the Giant Slalom course.
Please check the board at the top for course inspection information.
Work Assignments
Work assignments will be required for all racers on Sunday, no exceptions. If you race on course 1, you will work course 2. If you race on course 2, you will work course 1.
All work assignments will include both slalom and giant slalom races.
Due to the schedule change the gate judge sign up link sent out by Bill Perlmutter will not be used. If you do not have a pre-assigned or permanent work assignment, please see the Chief of Course at the top of North Boyne 15 minutes before race start for an assignment.
Green Cards or Gate Judge Cards will be required for all racers.
Reminder: Pace Setting does not count as a work assignment.
Registration
Online registration remains open.
If you are not registered by midnight on Friday (2/2/24) your name may not appear on the start sheets. You may be written in if properly registered after that time.
The Registration Desk will be on the main floor of the Civic Center inside the main doors. Registration hours will be 8:30-9:30am and 11:30am-12:30pm.
Meet us at the Flake
We can all agree we've been missing the socializing with each other more than the racing, so we will be holding a special MACC Informational Happy Hour on Saturday, February 7pm.
While you're enjoying your beverage, the board members will review the details for Sunday's races, discuss work assignment requirements, and answer any questions you may have.
So meet us in the Snowflake for some good drinks, good friends, and a little bit of MACC info.
Awards
Awards for races 6 & 7 will be on Saturday, February 24th in the Snowflake.
SKI YOU SOON MACC RACERS!
